Numerology is a method of divination that uses numbers as symbols of the different vibrational patterns which make up our human experience. We should remember that we are ourselves responsible for our successes or failures and not others or the events.   Some might call them as “unexpected happenings” but, no such thing has ever happened in this world till now.   A seed germinates, becomes a sapling and only then it grows into a tree, having been careless at the sapling stage, if you happen to see a tree blossoming out well. You call this an unexpected happening.

 If every thing is well thought out and planned, things will happen as expected. By the grace of Mother Nature, a seed germinates and grows into a tree, which in turn produces many seeds, we, who consumes those nuts and fruits should realize that efforts and rewards come as a cycle and our lives also go as planned.   Similarly, without adequate efforts there cannot be rewards.   Very often we hear people say ‘I failed in spite of all my best efforts’ but we never analyze the word ALL in that sentence.   The order of nature is that, if something is done in the right way success will be achieved.  If, on the contrary, something is done without knowing how to go about it, then failure is imminent.  If one has put in his best efforts, he ought to succeed.

All people in this world are equally fortunate.   Each person is born with different aspirations and desires.  Fortune is the goal which everyone wants to achieve in life.  But the path to achieve it is different from person to person.   Perseverance plays a great role in achieving success step by step.   Kaivalyam , the essence of Upanishad says   “ nothing in this world is achieved without practice. ”

Numerology is as old as our ancient civilization. in fact  , no one knows the origin of the science of numerology, but numbers are spoken of even in the ancient biblical literature and the Hindu mythological texts, the history of numerology  dates back to the Pythagoras period which runs between 569 and 470 BC .   Pythagoras   a great mathematician  and philosopher of his times from Greece, had established a school in which he taught numerology.

 Those who wished to become his disciples had to live initially with him in total silence for a period of three years.   If they happened to speak even once,   they were expelled.    Thus many were sent away for having expressed their own opinion forgetting their vow of silence.  This may seem ridiculous to those who think that they can get all their knowledge by reading books alone .   Pythagoras disciples who learn to observe silence, become great thinkers.

According to Pythagoras, the world is built upon the power of numbers and the system of the numbers works on the broader concept that the entire universe is composed of mathematical patterns.   It is said that all the things can be expressed in terms of numbers representing universal vibrations.    Therefore all things including names, letters, words, birth dates and birth places can be converted into numerical values to determine the future  personalities.  Though numerology has been in use for centuries together in some form or the other.  It underwent a lot of change in modern times.
